The Business of Being Born & Pushed
ICAN hosted a sneak preview of The Business of Being Born in Des Moines in November 2007.
Movie to come out on Netflix in February 2008.
Our amazing co-leaders Kelly Sorensen (pictured left) and Lisa Houchins (pictured right) worked tirelessly to bring Jennifer Block (pictured center), author of Pushed, and the movie Business of Being Born to Des Moines. They did a wonderful job!

On Tuesday November 6th ICAN of Central Iowa held its first ever sneak preview. We started out the night with a book signing by the author of Pushed, Jennifer Block.
We sold tickets at the door as well as copies of Ms. Block's books while everyone mingled and discussed the upcoming movie.
The movie was insightful and led to a great discussion by Ms. Block following. The night was a great success!
Thank you to all of our sponsors, subscribers and everyone who came out to make this a night to remember!

About the Book Pushed
This book is a journalistic look at the dilemma facing our country today in the childbirth community. "When did birth become an emergency instead of an emergence?" (Pushed front flap) Block attempts to investigate the issues facing women today including c-sections, hospital care, midwifery care, and lack of choice.
